Description:

Providence is calling a Starbucks Barista (Per diem/Variable shift) to Providence St Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.

This opening will utilize the Modern Hire Video Prescreen Tool. If invited to this prescreen, candidates who complete this process will be given preference for interview consideration (Please note: Completing this process does not guarantee that you will be selected for an in-person interview).

We are seeking a Starbucks Barista who will provide prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable store environment. Perform daily floor cleaning and environmental upkeep of store and back room as well as unloads Starbucks product weekly. Model and act in accordance with Starbucks and Providence guiding principles.

In this position you will:

  • Act with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of Starbucks and Providence. Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team

  • Anticipate customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues. Communicate information to manager so that the team can respond as necessary to create a community gathering space for patients, visitors, and staff

  • Assist with new staff training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed

  • Contribute to positive team environment by recognizing changes in staff morale and performance and communicating them to the store manager

  • Deliver customer service to all customers by acting with a “customer comes first” attitude and connecting with the customer. Discovers and responds to customer needs

  • Follow Starbucks operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all staff during each shift

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace so that staff can locate resources and product as needed

  • Provide quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards

  • Educate and inform customers about the differences among coffee beans and preparation

  • Follow department Team Agreements:

  • R = Respond (use positive, helpful language, ask questions to clarify daily tasks, use appropriate words and phrases, do not use forbidden phrases)

  • E = Engage (thank the guest/customer, smile, use a signature statement to end the interaction)

  • Respond to and resolves complaints as directed by department procedures

  • Complete all duties with minimal supervision

  • Minimize waste and maintains cost awareness while performing duties

  • Handle all food in accordance with food handling guidelines issued by state, and federal agencies

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement

  • ServSafe or ANSI Certification

  • Must demonstrate the competency to safely and accurately operate equipment

  • Must portray world class customer service at all times and possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Ability to remain calm, maintain perspective and respond in a professional manner

  • Ability to successfully function during time of uncertainty and changing priorities

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships

  • Ability to efficiently perform basic math calculations and functions

  • Must be able to learn quickly and work within a team

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and some holidays

  • Must be reliable, accurate, detail oriented and courteous

  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instruction
