Providence is calling a Senior Perioperative Scheduling Coordinator (Full-Time/Variable Shift) to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.
We are seeking a Senior Perioperative Scheduling Coordinator who will be responsible for procedural scheduling and patient flow requirements. Coordinates time, resources, patient, physician, staff, and facility needs. Fosters positive relationships with Admitting, ancillary staff, and physicians' offices. Evaluates the performance and effectiveness of surgery scheduling. Participates in the daily activities of the department as an active team member.
In this position you will:
Coordinate all anesthesia scheduling, requests and assignments house-wide.
Coordinate all physician block time requests and changes with the Director and the Chief of Surgery.
Maintain block schedules in the OR computer system.
Maintain knowledge of scheduling structure and requirements for all ancillaries. Assists supervisor in organizing and coordinating scheduling protocols and procedures.
Schedule appointments for ancillary services in accordance with scheduling procedures.
Arrange, prioritizes, and ensures that all scheduling department daily functions are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Oversee the work of Perioperative Scheduling Coordinators in the scheduling office.
Perform administrative duties related to procedures such as scheduling, documentation, logs, and follow up.
Prioritizeswork and provides prompt and efficient service.
Obtain and input into computer all pertinent demographic, insurance, and authorization data on patients.
Keep patient records current.
Perform basic office functions (i.e., photocopies and files information; answers the telephone, takes messages, and directs calls; and resolves customer-related problems as appropriate.). Handles multiple telephone calls in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families/staff in accordance with hospital standards.
Maintain effective and timely communication with staff and communicates with ancillary services when scheduling cases.
Display positive and professional demeanor when communicating with patients, office staff, and co-workers throughout the Medical Center.
Perform a variety of duties (archiving, completing usage, etc.).
Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
Maintain department records, reports, and files as required.
Participate in educational programs and in service meetings.
Attend meetings as required.
Participate in unit/hospital quality improvement activities.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Four (4) or more years Operating room scheduling office experience or medical office experience interfacing with patients, families, and medical office staff.
Required Clerical Skills; Computer skills (i.e., Windows, Orbit/ESI), Good typing skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Administrative Skill: Excellent communication and telephone skills, detail-oriented.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- PSJMC patient scheduling experience.
