Providence Health & Services Patient Host-Hostess - Food and Nutrition Services in Burbank, California
Providence is calling a Per Diem, Variable Shift Patient Host/Hostess to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.
In this position you will:
Be the liaison between patients and the Food Services department, providing excellent customer service performing functions pertaining to the menu selections and delivery of food to patients.
Ensure all food delivered meets existing standards for safety, diet prescription, quality, freshness, taste, temperature, and appearance.
Perform assigned duties (delivers patient trays, communicate patient food preferences, deliver nourishments, prepare/deliver late trays and pick-up unused tube feedings.
Procure food and supplies from refrigerator, freezer, and other storage areas as needed.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Training in institutional food preparation and safe food handling
3 months experience in customer service, patient interactions, food service, computer operations and time management
Courses/Training in safe food handling and sanitary cleaning of equipment
In accordance with dietary specification must be able to communicate a positive presentation of medical center’s dietary selection and requirement through effective and clear verbal and written communication skills.
Must demonstrate pleasant personality when interacting with customers.
Knowledge of specialized diets, hospital processes, medical terminology, emergency codes and responses and general computer understanding is essential to position.
Ability to perform data entry and basic computer skills. Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively.
Ability to work with patients that are ill and possibly facing end of life issues.
Ability to communicate verbally and write effectively with patients and health team.
Ability to use knowledge and resources to resolve problems that occur while delivering patient snacks and /or meals.
Ability to work independently.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to write simple correspondence.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Three months experience working on assembly line preparing patient meal trays and dishroom duties
