Providence is calling a Director - Maternal Child Services (Full-Time/Day Shift) to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA
We are seeking a Director - Maternal Child Services who will be accountable for the delivery of high quality nursing care and direct oversight of the administrative management team for multiple nursing units. Fulfill all duties and responsibilities associated with the Assistant Director position.
In this position you will:
Oversee the implementation and maintenance of established departmental unit, and hospital policies, procedures and objectives as well as improving organization performance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Assure that all units/departments reporting under this position prepare budget and adheres to budgetary standards.
Provide direction and leadership to all Managers that report directly to the position and retains responsibility for meeting all standards of practice and deadlines.
Demonstrate clinical expertise in the execution of the Nursing process and ensures that its application is carried out.
Hold all Managers accountable for performing within their job description, meeting: deadlines, financial, regulatory, clinical, and safety outcomes within the desired timeframe.
Assist with the selection of staff, training, orientation, and conducting performance evaluations, and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
Ensure that nursing standards and practices are developed and met.
Demonstrate proactive leadership skills of delegation, organization, and coordination in running assigned unit(s); delegates these responsibilities as appropriate.
Demonstrate and promotes effective communication on the nursing unit with staff, physicians, patients/families/significant others, and other departments.
Establish and implements unit/department goals and objectives in keeping with department and hospital goals and mission. Acts as liaison between Administration and the Medical staff.
Promote a safe environment that allows for the delivery of high quality patient care.
Identify needs, plans independently and in conjunction with others for the clinical and leadership development of staff.
Plan for appropriate and safe staffing levels by maintaining a high retention rate.
Protect patient confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications.
Supervise, institute, and evaluate nursing interventions.
Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.
Work independently as an extension of the Chief Nursing Officer with Managers that report directly to the position.
Attend administrative meetings and actively participates and leads task forces and committees.
Maintain departmental reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Sufficient for license.
BLS for Healthcare Providers sponsored by the American Heart Association.
NOTE: If employee/applicant has certification by the American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, this will be accepted until card expiration date.
Current California Licensed Registered Nurse.
Three (3) years recent clinical experience.
