Providence Health & Services Manager, Spiritual Care in Burbank, California
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Manager, Spiritual Care to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, CA and Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.
Provides managerial oversight and leadership to the Spiritual Care Department. Provides spiritual counseling and guidance to patients and employees. Provides leadership in integrating spiritual care into the care of the whole person. Demonstrates proficiency in delivering care to patients of differing cultures and backgrounds. Possesses knowledge of, and reverence for, the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church and demonstrates ability to collaborate effectively with the Ecclesial structures of the Church. Clearly articulates the Mission of Providence.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Selects, orients and assigns department chaplaincy staff. Assures delivery of Spiritual Care within the Standards for Spiritual Care of the Providence Health System. Evaluates performance, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Maintains effective communication with staff chaplains through staff meetings and other means of communication.
Plans, organizes, directs and schedules spiritual programs and services that meet the needs of patient/patient families, hospital employees, and medical staff.
Provides for specific needs of individual faiths by fostering an ecumenical approach to hospital ministry.
Develops goals and objectives, and establishes and implements policies and procedures for quality improvement and maintains established patient/customer safety standards.
Provides for the administration of sacraments, schedules religious/worship services and prayer services or arranges for visiting clergy to do so. Visits patients to provide spiritual counseling and guidance, and cooperates with health care team in assisting patient to make personal adjustments.
Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensures that department operates within budget.
Consults with hospital staff regarding ministry. Collaborates with members of the health care team in identifying and resolving problems.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Divinity Or equivalent educ/experience.
Managerial and supervisory experience.
Certification by NACC or APC.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education).
