Providence Health & Services Genetics Referral Coordinator DFCC in Burbank, California
Providence is calling a Genetics Referral Coordinator DFCC, (Full Time/Day Shift) to Providence California Regional Services in Burbank, CA.
We are seeking a Referral Coordinator DFCC who's for the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center (DFCC) is responsible for assuring a comprehensive process, updated data base and the integrity of the referral process for patients to both physicians and specific services housed in the center. The Referral Coordinator will establish and maintain an updated overview of cancer resources available within the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center and its associated membership of individual physicians and clinicians. Coordinate referral calls received at the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center requesting information on cancer related and all other services available at the center. Provides information and directs call related to appropriate providers or departments. Maintains an up to date knowledge base to process calls for physician referrals, general cancer disease site and cancer treatment information. Appropriately triages patients or callers with clinical questions or problems to the right person with the correct training and background to provide information. Directs calls to a variety of offices and services within the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center and to affiliate members of the center not housed within the building. Develops and maintains a database of numbers, types of calls and responses to those calls. Devises and implements a system for follow up to assure that callers needs have been met. All job related duties will be performed in accordance with all Providence Policies and Procedures, Providence Mission and Core Values, and all relevant JCAHO, Title 22, OSHA, and DHS standards. The Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center Referral Coordinator will report to the DFCC Director of Clinical Services.
In this position you will:
Develop and maintain established regional policies, procedures, and objectives related to the referral process and service quality standards
Answer incoming phone calls, and assists callers to be referred to appropriate services and physician or other providers
Answer incoming requests and assists callers based on identified needs by assessing needs through probing questions while maintaining patient confidentiality and simultaneously providing each caller with extraordinary and efficient customer service
Communicate effectively with the clinical care team, physician offices, and other services to assure caller’s needs are met
Develop and maintains accurate database of all services and providers within the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center
Develop strong collaborative relationships with the Health Resources Center, Clinical Areas, leadership team and departments
Act as liaison between callers and appropriate parties to assure satisfaction for all parties
Identify areas of programmatic deficit and proposes solutions to the appropriate parties
Demonstrate sensitivity to patients' comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their referral and coordination needs
Maintain a patient friendly process and environment for patients/families in accordance with PSJMC and DFCC standards
Maintain current information on all care providers and services in the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center and all affiliated members
Maintain all required reports, records, statistics, etc
Evaluate area of responsibility regularly for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when required
Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, professional affiliations, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops
Cooperate with personnel in other departments to establish and maintain positive intradepartmental relationships to facilitate the referral process
Participate in regular meetings with the DFCC staff to disseminate information
Work with other departments and oncology leadership to develop policies and procedures, programs, services, etc. to improve patient care and service quality in the DFCC
Work with the Director of Clinical Services and Administrator to develop practice standards, policies and procedures
Establish relationships outside the DFCC for the benefit of the department and medical center (i.e., professional associations, volunteer activities, community activities)
Required qualifications for this position include:
2 years work experience in an oncology clinical setting
Experience dealing with confidential information and knowledge of privacy laws
Sound clinical knowledge of oncology practices and principles
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast paced environment
Positive attitude, comfortable with ambiguity and the ability to be flexible
Excellent interpersonal communication, verbal and written skills with emphasis on organization and attention to detail
Problem solving and prioritization skills in order to manage multiple tasks successfully throughout the day
Supportive and cooperative attitude skills
Ability to manage detail, assure accuracy and produce results.
Demonstrated excellence in customer service
Knowledge of oncology terminology, disease processes, and current treatments
Computer literacy required including the ability to work with word processing and electronic spreadsheet programs
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Knowledge of PSJMC and the Burbank area
