We are seeking a Director Product Development who will be responsible for evaluating, developing and launching new and innovative health care products, assessing payer partnership opportunities, and geographically expanding these products across Southern California. In this role, the Director will play a significant role in achieving value based membership growth and revenue goals. This position will build and manage external relationships with both providers and payers, develop risk structure agreements, negotiate contracts, ensure regulatory compliance and communicate with the regulatory entities, specifically the Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC).
In this position you will:
Develop and Implement new product concepts resulting in increased market share and additional volume, revenue and margin
Develop and implement innovative contractual relationships resulting in additional membership and margin
Provide leadership and influence across the matrixed organization to successfully operationalize new products
With the Contracting team, negotiate contracts with partners, payers, new clients, and network providers
Summarize complex product opportunities succinctly and share with Medical Group and Hospital leadership to influence the decision making process
In partnership with Legal department, ensure new product compliance with applicable regulatory entities
Evaluate and lead the implementation of solutions to continuously move the Providence High Performing Network forward
Evaluate opportunities to expand product growth to markets surrounding the existing Providence footprint
Collaborate with external health systems to expand existing products and launch new market opportunities
Own new product relationships end-to-end, through initial scoping, negotiations, launch, and hand off to operations
Conduct complex analysis supporting strategy and business development opportunities across the Southern California Region, including, but not limited to Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura County
Partners with Physician Enterprise, Ambulatory Care Network and other Providence entities to bring additional solutions (i.e. care management) to market
Generate innovative new opportunities to grow alternative, non-delivery system, revenue and margin
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Marketing, Engineering or Clinical Science, or related field or related field
Demonstrated success in developing and implementing business plans leading to increased market share, meeting organizational objectives and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction
Experienced in overall business strategy and analysis including marketing, quality and financial analytics
Demonstrated experience in contract negotiations
Demonstrated experience establishing risk based and value based agreements with both payers and providers
Experience operating in a regulatory environment and communicating with the Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC)
Experience in a regulated environment
Knowledge of the health care industry with demonstrated knowledge of health care operations across the continuum of care, health insurance, population heath management and accountable care organizations.
Ability to assess the dynamics of physicians, incentives, alignment models, clinical programs and how all interact with the health care delivery system.
Demonstrates knowledge of the Southern California market, both providers and consumers
Superior knowledge of the regulatory requirements of healthcare insurance, specifically the Department of Managed Healthcare (DMHC)
Superior knowledge of managed care contracting
Ability to effectively communicate with hospital and medical group executive teams in the development of new networks and products
Efficiently and effectively solves complex problems
Ability to quickly assess complex business opportunities and turn concepts into actionable project plans
Demonstrates ability to drive multiple large scale initiatives across a large matrixed organization leading to the successful completion.
Superior analytical ability and quantitative skills with a proven ability to analyze data/reports and extract meaningful information to drive change

Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Six Sigma/Lean Certification
Demonstrated experience in health care operations with a record of successfully implementing initiatives to achieve outstanding results
Experience in entrepreneurial or start-up environments
Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in an integrated health system similar to Providence
