Providence Health & Services Assistant Nurse Manager - GI Lab in Burbank, California
Providence is calling a Assistant Nurse Manager (Full Time/Day Shift) to the GI Lab at the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.
We are seeking a Assistant Nurse Manager who will manage and coordinate unit, direct and supervise functions and activities, interpret policies/procedures/protocols, standards and regulations as appropriate. Perform duties in any nursing capacity as needed. Demonstrate proficiency in delivering care to assigned age specific patient population (e.g., infants, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, pediatrics), and participates in related continuing education.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Prepare work schedules, assign personnel, evaluate work performance, and make recommendations for personnel actions. Assist in the selection, training and orientation of unit personnel
Implement and maintain established department, unit, and hospital policies, procedures, and objective as well as improving organization performance program, safety, environmental, and infection control policies
Prepare written documentation as required by the profession and the department
Consult with nursing administration concerning management of assigned units and all related matters
Ensure accurate maintenance of patients' medical records and that patient records are treated as confidential information
Assist in establishing and implementing unit goals and objectives. Organize, direct, and coordinate functions and activities in specialty area. Ensure that nursing standards and practices are developed and met
Establish and maintain communication between the nursing unit and ancillary departments for the purpose of problem solving. Utilize appropriate lines of communication within the nursing department
Maintain awareness of ongoing quality assurance studies within the unit, assist with implementation of corrective action determined necessary
Assign personnel to patients based on acuteness of patient care needs and staff availability
Adjust staffing to meet needs and to provide adequate coverage of unit
Inspect area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur
Maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families that allows for the delivery of high quality patient care in accordance with hospital standards
Assist attending physicians, patients, and families as needed in times of stress or crisis
Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care
Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops
Direct maintenance of department facilities, equipment, supplies and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort and safety of patients and staff
Requisition supplies and equipment, maintenance and repair services, and prepares related forms. Keeps stock and equipment inventories
Attend meetings as required, and participate on committees as directed
Assist in investigating complaints of patients, nursing staff, and medical staff, and take appropriate action; follow up to ensure that complaints have been satisfactorily handled
Required qualifications for this position include:
Current California Licensed Registered Nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers sponsored by the American Heart Association
If employee/applicant has certification by the American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, this will be accepted until card expiration date
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for RN's working in ICU, ED, Urgent Care, Telemetry, PACU, GI Lab, Cardiac Physiology Lab, Cardiac Rehab, and Diagnostic Imaging. Employees transferring into areas that require ACLS must complete the requirement within 180 days
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or higher
Experience working as a Charge Nurse or higher
